ellow Tucsonans! As you may have heard, the city of Tucson decided to cancel the long-standing 4th of July fireworks celebration on 'A' Mountain.
MAJOR UPDATE:
I received a call Thursday afternoon from Councilwoman Uhlich, confirming that after much effort, sufficient funds from the private sector had been secured to pay for the fireworks celebration. In short, the fireworks are back on!

So, as promised, I have refund the donations I've received. Thank you to all who donated! I don't know how much this site was able to contribute to the pressure, but it just needed to be done. I am still frustrated that a decision was made to cut this event in the first place, and I hope that those that made the decision have learned a very big lesson. You don't mess with Independence Day!

As concerned patriots, we, Sam Douglas and Todd Clodfelter, decided that if at all possible, our 4th of July fireworks celebration must go on. If the city can't pay for it, we hope that there are enough of us here in Tucson willing to chip in to make this happen.
As disclosed by the city, the total cost for the July 4th celebration events is about $51,000. $34,000 is for the fireworks and $17,000 for the July 4th morning bike race. In order to reach the goal to pay for the fireworks, I have revised the ChipIn goal to be the $34,000 for the fireworks. The fireworks are something that everyone in Tucson can enjoy.
So, we ask you to please donate using the secure form below! You can contribute any amount.

The Fireworks Are Back On!
The 4th of July fireworks are back on! As promised, all donations will be refunded today. Thank you for donating!
The ChipIn will direct the funds to a dedicated personal PayPal account that we setup just for this effort. Be assured that all funds contributed will be used for the Tucson fireworks celebration. In the event that not enough money is raised or Tucson decides to reverse their decision and go ahead with the celebration, all monies will be 100% refunded.
Again, our names are Sam Douglas and Todd Clodfelter. We live and work here. Tucson is our home. This effort is simply our personal effort to do what we can. It is birthed out of our great frustration with the city of Tucson's management's decision to deem a 4th of July Independence Day celebration less important than so many other events, programs, and expenditures.
We completely understand the need to cut back due to lack of funds. What we simply don't understand how they could choose to cut an event that has for so long been a reminder of one of the most important events in human history. In the end, we can't lose sight of what it means to be an American.
So, please help us save Tucson's 4th of July. Share this site via email, in comments, on blogs, and anywhere else you can. And please consider giving, even if it is a couple dollars. Thank you.
